What We Shipped This Week at Little Legends: Smoother Checkouts and Rock-Solid Reliability

By Mark Twain · 6 October 2026

The road from a finished story to a book in your hands ought to be the easiest mile of the whole journey, and this week we paved it — along with some essential work below the surface where the pilings go.

On the reimagined checkout. We redesigned the entire passage from finishing your book to holding it. When your story is ready, the sign-in screen now greets you with your own family photo and characters — a warm reminder of the very book you are about to order, rather than a cold turnstile. There is a "Save my info for next time" checkbox, so a returning customer can sweep through checkout like a regular at their favorite counter. And the choice between print and digital now happens right on the book page, before checkout begins — the deciding gets done where the book is, as it should be.

On books that wait faithfully. One of the trickiest bugs of the week: if you left the page while your book was still being made, you could lose access to it — even though the book finished perfectly well without you. A book that completes itself and then hides from its owner is no way to run a library. Now your book waits. Close the tab, see to whatever called you away, come back tomorrow if you must — your finished story will be right where you left it, ready to claim.

On the proper handling of supporting characters. The story now takes a firmer hand with its cast. It refuses duplicate names, declines two people smuggled in under one name, and catches the common slip of writing a relationship — "Mom" — where a name belongs. We also saw to it that every character the story mentions actually appears on the page that needs them. No more mysterious references to persons who declined to be illustrated.

On being findable. Our seasonal campaign pages — back-to-school themes and their kin — are now fully indexed by the search engines, so new families can discover Little Legends the way most things get discovered nowadays. We added a /contact page that opens our support messenger directly, and tidied the campaign answer blocks with clearer emoji-based navigation.

On locks and hinges. We completed a comprehensive security review of our saved-story and checkout systems. The upshot is plain: your account data stays private, and only you can edit your books' dedications or enter your library. Unexciting work, as all good lock-making is — and essential as we approach launch.

Coming soon: quality-control automation that catches illustration mishaps before you ever lay eyes on them, and deeper personalization to make each story feel still more uniquely yours.
